Reduce Your Footprint

Think about how much energy you use throughout the day: Keeping the lights on, maintaining room temperature air, heating water, and so much more! All of these things most likely run off of fossil fuels, unless you have access to solar power or wind power. Until everyone has the ability to run off of renewable resources, here are a few ways to cut down on your fossil fuel consumption.

  • Run your dishwasher only when it’s packed full.
  • Take advantage of comfortable fresh air when in season.
  • Switch over to energy efficient machines, including dishwashers and washing machines.
  • Hang your clothes out to dry instead of using a dryer.
  • Wash your clothes less often by washing bigger loads
  • Switch over to energy-efficient light bulbs
  • Take advantage of the natural light before you switch your lights on
  • Adjust the thermostat when you leave the house
  • When it’s cold, bundle up! Dry heat isn’t good for your body or the planet
  • Turn off your electronics at night, including computers
  • Carpool Carpool Carpool!
  • Turn off the lights when you leave the room- it’s a bad habit!
  • Invest in good insulation as to not waste heated or cooled air
  • Limit your showers to five minutes
  • Clean your refrigerator coils to be as efficient as possible
