Natural cleaning solutions can clean and disinfect just as well as chemicals can. All of these solutions can be put into a spray bottle and used throughout your home

Vinegar and Vodka Disinfectant

  • 1/2 cup of white vinegar
  • 1/2 cup of vodka
  • 1 1/2 cups of water
  • 20 drops of essential oils (I recommend lavender and lemon!)
  • Spray solution on surface and let sit for ten minutes before wiping it clean with a cloth.

Glass Cleaner

  • 2 cups of water
  • 2 tablespoons of white vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons of rubbing alcohol
  • 5 drops of essential oil
  • Spray on glass surface and wipe with a cloth

Heavy Duty Kitchen Scrub

  • 1/4 cup of natural dish soap
  • 1/4 cup of baking soda
  • 3 drops of water
  • 5 drops of essential oil
  • Mix ingredients in a bowl and scrub dirty surface with the rough side of a sponge. Wipe clean with a cloth

Lemon Degreaser (NOT FOR WOOD)

  • 2 tablespoons of lemon juice
  • 2 cups of water
  • 1 tablespoon of baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon of Castille soap
  • Mix ingredients in spray bottle and shake well. Spray surface and wipe with cloth. Can be used on toilets, too!

Reusable Dryer Balls– Dryer sheets are filled with synthetic chemicals and are non-recyclable. A great alternative solution is to use reusable dryer balls instead. These collect lint off of your clothes and reduce static, and they also come scented!

Where to Buy?- You can find them for sale on Amazon, as well as  stores such as TJ Maxx and Marshalls

Sponges and Scrubbers– The sponges you buy at the grocery store are usually non-recyclable and non-compostable. The Twist Sponge is a plant-based scrubbing sponge made from all- natural products. An even better alternative to sponges, which can get coated with old food and bacteria, is a dish brush. There are compostable models out there and they’ll keep you from having to handle a gross sponge.

Where to Buy? twist sponges-, and dish brushes can be found on Amazon.

Castille Soap– Castille soap is a great alternative to regular dish soap because it is an all-natural vegetable oil-based soap. Dish soap is filled with synthetic chemicals that can be dangerous, especially since we use it on our hands and dining utensils. My favorite is Dr. Bonner’s Lavander Castille Soap!
