Hello all! I’m here with another tip on how to stay GREEN.
Sometimes we don’t realize how wasteful we can be, especially when it comes to everyday items… like deodorant! While some people may opt for their all-natural smell, most people need deodorant to keep themselves fresh and clean. Unfortunately, most people use deodorants from drugstores, which are usually packaged in bulky plastic applicators that aren’t easy to recycle. Additionally, there have been several studies done on the long term effects of these deodorants that contain aluminum, and have been linked to breast cancer.
Here’s an alternative option: All natural and package-free deodorant! Basically, it works the same way any old deodorant works, but it looks like a bar of soap. Just rub some on, and voilà! You’re good to go without producing any waste!
These deodorants can be found at bath and body shops, such as Lush. There are even some recipes out there for homemade deodorant, if you’re feeling particularly au naturale. Everyone’s body is different and your underarms are a sensitive area, so I would suggest trying out a few like you would with any new self grooming product.
Just a note: If you’re going to try these forms of deodorants, you should know that most of them are just deodorants, not antiperspirants. Sweating is the body’s natural way of cooling off, and deodorant allows your body to do that without creating the smell. Antiperspirants prevent you from sweating and usually contain more chemicals. So read the label before you buy!
